THE ISLAND BRAND
Dedicated to Héctor Tur Guillem * 1947, Ibiza

The keeper
of Ibiza's magic

LIVE. LIKE. LOVE.

Ibiza Resident is not loud – and never will be. Because it has always been there. It is the symbol of Ibiza's history and embodies the values of the island to this day. Carried by personal encounters that made the authenticity of the people on the island tangible. And all of this continues to have an impact today and in the future. Underpinned by respect, tolerance and the desire to live together in peace. Ibiza is not just a place, but a commitment to precisely this attitude to life.

The 3000-year history – marked by Berbers, Phoenicians, Romans, Vandals and Moors to the dropouts and hippies of the 1960s – reflects this way of life. All these residents of Ibiza, made Ibiza to a brand, that embraces diversity and personal freedom.

Exactly these features can be found in the genus of the hound „Podenco Ibicenco“, that lives on the island for more than 2000 years.

Respect The Island

The story behind

There are moments in life that are constantly intensifying

The first contact

It all started in the 70s with a wedding. Arriving on a ferry from Valencia, we set foot on the island for the first time. The celebrations took place in the former ‘Celler Balear’ on Avenida Ignacio Wallis in Ibiza Town. Due to the relationship that had now developed, it was clear that a visit to Ibiza at least once a year was set for the future. Thanks to Hector, Ibiza and its people – family and friends – have always presented themselves with their original identity and you couldn't help but love this island. If anyone could truly bear the name ‘Ibiza Resident’, it was him.

The island sound

Hector was not only known throughout the island as a saddler and later awning maker and sail cutter, but also as a musician. He formed his first band with three friends in 1963 - Es Amics. This was followed by ‘Nuevos Bohemios’ and ‘S'orquestre des Pla de Vila’. Pepe Gamba was also part of the band and still makes music today. We have fond memories of the gigs in the former Barbacoa in Santa Gertrudis. The rehearsals in an old industrial hall in Puig d'en Valls were legendary, but the highlight was a gig in the 90s at ‘Malibu Beach’ in the Salinas, to which we were also invited. Roman Polanski was also there, greeted us as if we had known each other forever and we danced the polonaise with the FC Barcelona team. Unforgettable.

The authentic taste

It was always great to visit one of the typical small bays on Sundays with the whole Ibizan family and friends, go for a swim and then meet up for a meal together in an original restaurant at around 3.00 pm. Hector liked to combine these visits with pointing out to the restaurant owners that there were still unpaid bills for his work. It's good to know that some restaurants have managed to retain their original identity to this day. The ‘Cas Pages’, ‘Bon Lloc’ in Jesús and the ‘Hostal Restaurante Pou des Lleó’ belong to this category. The dishes are characterised by Ibizan cuisine. Highly recommended in Pou des Lleó: Bullit de Peix. Phenomenal.
